For anyone who has visited Dussledorf and the great breweries in the city, you will need no explanation about this jersey. The Fortuna Dusseldorf Special Köbes Shirt has been created to honour the waiters who serve beer in the local breweries in the Rhineland region after what has been a tough time due to the pandemic.

Köbes is the name given to name of the workers at the breweries who traditionally wear a blue apron when serving beer. But it’s not just the colour that makes this shirt special. There is a lot of detail…
Each purchase contains one of these tokens worth 5 Euros which can be redeemed at participating local restaurants and pubs who have gone through hard times due to the pandemic – a really nice touch giving that community feel. It expires at the end of this year.

Onto the Fortuna Dusseldorf Special Köbes Shirt itself and it has a beautiful golden club logo. The gold theme is continued on the back of the neck too and it just goes really nicely with the main blue colouring of the shirt. Just above is a lovely button colour too.

The unique feature which really pays homage to the Köbes are the pencil marks found on each sleeve. These pencil dashes represent the marks which a waiter in Dusseldorf would mark on your beermat to keep a tally of the number of beers consumed. Cleverly they have added 9 pencil marks on the left sleeve and 5 on the right to symbolise 95 which of course is the year they were formed, 1895. This is just a brilliant piece of art and why I love the shirt so much.
