When does the 2026/2027 Bundesliga season start?
Whilst the actual fixtures are not yet known, we do know when the Bundesliga season starts. The top flight of German football will commence on the 28th August 2026 with the final matchday occurring on the 22nd May 2027.
For fans eager to get back to Germany at the start of the new season, the Bundesliga 2 will kick-off three weeks earlier on the 7th August 2026. The weekend of the 21st to 24th August 2026 is set aside for the opening games of the DFB Pokal.
Is there a Winter Break?
The final Bundesliga matchday of 2026 takes place on the weekend of 18th to 20th December. After this, the season is paused with Bundesliga matches resuming on the 8th January 2027 with Bundesliga 2 resuming a week later on the 15th January 2027.
Are there International Breaks?
As normal throughout the calendar there are weekends where there will be no Bundesliga action due to the National teams participating in the UEFA Nations League. The weekends are as follows:
- 24th September to 6th October 2026
- 12th to 17th November 2026
- 25th to 30th March 2027
