Werder Bremen History
Just how big are Werder Bremen? One statistic answers that which is that the club share the record for the most seasons played in The Bundesliga, matched only by Bayern Munich. Founded in 1899 the club are currently celebrating their 125 year anniversary and boast being champions of Germany on four occasions, 1964-65, 1987-88, 1992-93 and most recently 2003-04.
The Weser Stadium
The club have played at the Weser Stadium since moving in back in 1909 and has seen many renovations, not least between 2008 and 2011 with the stadium removing the old sports track, adding a new roof and making the capacity 42,100.
On the day of the match, if the weather is good, take time to walk from the city centre to the stadium with a scenic walk along the banks of the Weser River.

Our advice is to be inside the stadium a good hour before kick-off and enjoy the atmosphere as it builds. You will be treated to the sound of “Lebenslang GrünWeiß” which is traditionally played before each home match and it’s so good you can’t help join in!
