How did we end up with a visit to Cadbury Athletic FC this weekend?  When a club takes the trouble to put on a weekend aimed at groundhoppers, it simply had to be supported.  What a great job the club did.

Driving to Bournville (yes it really exists) from Norwich, we arrived just as a partial solar eclipse was taking place – could the day be set any better!  We arrived early and managed to park on a residential street just a 5 minute walk away (for anyone who this helps, the name of the road is Oxford Street).

The club had made the price for attendance just £5 for Adults which helped to create a great crowd on the day and we paid for this on arrival via a QR Code at this lovely little hut.

Cadbury Athletic History

The club was founded in 1994 and now participate in The Midland Football League Division Two.

Terrace Edition had put together a special fanzine for the occasion and you can see why.  Every angle of this football ground is as picturesque as you could imagine – this fantastic piece of standing area next to the main building was a real highlight.  The Fanzine and other Cadbury Athletic merchandise can be purchased on-line here.

Reading the history of the club in the Terrace Edition fanzine, we learned that the iconic and spectacular Pavilion was a gift to mark the coronation of King Edward VII.

We absolutely loved our first experience of Cadbury Athletic and would strongly recommend others to make a visit.  Below is our video of a wonderful day at Cadbury Athletic FC….
